Globe Telecom and Yahoo! Sign Strategic Mobile Partnership

Yahoo! Mobile services to be available on the myGlobe WAP site

Globe Telecom, one of the Philippines’ largest telecommunications service providers, announced recently that it signed a strategic mobile partnership agreement with Yahoo!. Under the terms of the agreement, Globe Telecom will distribute Yahoo!’s popular mobile search service, Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo! Go for Mobile and other mobile Internet services on the myGlobe WAP site.

Yahoo! mobile services make it easier for people to search for and find better results, and instant answers on their mobile devices using oneSearch. Yahoo! oneSearch gives consumers access to News, Images, Finance, Weather, Flickr™, Web and mobile Web results with easy navigation to other Web sites.

For example, if someone wants to look for the latest information on a city they just need to type “Manila” into the search box to receive relevant results based on their search queries such as weather, Flickr photos, Web images, latest news articles and more.

With this partnership, Globe continues its efforts to be at the forefront of innovation. Globe is the first Philippine wireless operator to offer both post-paid and prepaid subscribers use of the Yahoo! oneSearch service on the myGlobe WAP site.

Yahoo! oneSearch is now available in 16 countries around the world. Yahoo! oneSearch was first launched in the United States in January 2007.
