Top 6 features that add value to Windows 8

After a big round of speculations and big delays, tech giant Microsoft has finally made available the latest Windows 8 release Preview for public download earlier than expected.  Microsoft has claimed that Windows 8 is equally suitable for desktops, laptops and slates.

With this latest launch, the Redmond giant is making one of the biggest upgrades to its PC operating system. As per latest information, Microsoft has introduced the Ribbon interface - first seen in Office 2007- to Windows Explorer. In addition, Microsoft has also launched a store for the new Metro-style apps that Windows 8 will support.

Besides these, Microsoft’s latest OS equips a slew of brand new features that seem just as compelling to power users as they are enticing newbies. Let’s check out some intuitive Windows 8 attributes:

Windows app store

Seems, Microsoft is in no mood to give any edge to its rivals including Apple and Android. To counter its arch rivals ,  Windows 8 comprises a new app store. As expected, the inclusion of a Windows Store is offering new business opportunities to developers.

It creates an incentive for developers to develop Metro-style apps that could potentially sell well on Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 OS.

Picture passwords

It can be little problematic to enter long, complex passwords on touch enabled devices such as tablets. At the same time, having a strong passcode is mandatory for portable devices.

To permit better security options, Microsoft has used a new system that integrates images and gestures for user authentication. It's simple to users; they first need to select an image to perform a gesture. The gesture can be tapping on something in the picture, encircling something, or drawing a line between two points in the image.

Synchronization with laptops, tablets and desktops

Microsoft has claimed that Windows 8 is equally compatible with laptops, tablets and desktops as well. In addition, the Windows 8 is completely compatible for touchscreens.

The new OS has been designed to work on ARM-based processors, which powers most of the smartphones and tablets available around.

Windows on-the-move

Portable applications’ is the latest buzzword these days. Users can already run software such as web browsers, word processors, image editors etc from a USB drive on the go.

With Microsoft’s new Windows 8, users would be even able to take the entire operating system with them on-the-move.

Automatic updates

With Windows 8, users will no longer be frustrated by those frequent warnings that frequently inform a system that it has been updated and needs to be restarted. With the latest OS, Windows Update (WU) will combine all the restarts in a month into one single restart for enhanced user’s experience.

Malware Protection

Protection of stored data is the utmost requirement of any system. Windows 8 boot process will support a new built-in mechanism marked as Secure Boot for enhanced full-proof security. Another anti-malware attribute in Windows 8 is SmartScreen, which checks URLs entered in the browser against a database of malware links to ensure security.

As far as the launch of Windows 8 powered tablets is concerned, Windows 8 powered tablet PCs from Acer and Lenovo are expected to arrive in third quarter of 2012..

Whether or not, users will accept Windows 8 powered tablets, it is difficult to say anything before actual launch of any Windows 8 powered tablet.

Well! For the time being, Best Of Luck for Microsoft.
