IT firms have to sustain in the tough economic environment by maintaining both; high service quality as well as financial health. This could only be achieved by offering enhanced operational efficiency, reducing service costs and delivering competitive business services.
As far as the coming year 2013 is concerned, analysts believe, number of companies planning to hire tech professionals will continue to grow. Recently, a research firm has described top IT skills for the year 2013, which are going to be the limelight of coming year.
Programming and Application Development: According to the report, 60 percent of the hiring companies are likely to hire for this skill in the next 12 months. It is found, technology and software are two significant ways for companies to improve productivity, reduce costs and create better presence in the market. Specifically, companies are expected to look for people with experience in Java, J2EE and .Net.
Technical Support: Another IT skill, which would be the limelight for the coming year would be the technical support. It is believed, 35 percent employers are likely to hire for this skill in the next 12 months. According to an analyst, IT firms are expected to look not only for people to build and implement the systems, but also for tech support workers to help employees in their work.
Project Management: As per an estimate, 40 of hiring employers are likely to hire project managers in the next 12 months. Programming is one of the significant skills required to fulfill the need for project management. It is like ‘more projects mean more project managers’. According to Jamie Hamilton, vice president of software engineering at Detroit-based Quicken Loans, the job for the project managing jobs in hiring firm would be among the 100 new positions that his company is planning to add to its 800-strong IT team.
Data Security: Acknowledging the present scenario, it is found; data security is the utmost requirement. Keeping this in mind, over 25 percent firms are expecting to hire people for this skill in the next 12 months. Demand for specialized security professionals is likely to grow as the task of safeguarding systems and data becomes increasingly complex.
Cloud: Cloud computing is a cost-efficient model in which vendors deliver a variety of IT-enabled capabilities to consumers. It is expected that the global acceptance for Cloud Computing will grow by an average of 26 percent in the next four years and will reach about $44.2 billion by 2013. Acknowledging the latest scenario, it is said that 25 percent of hiring employers are expected to hire new people for this skill in the next 12 months.
At a conclusive note, I am going to sum up this feature by saying that no matters, what would be the future trends or technologies; the only thing that matters is that the IT industry is a huge employment generator. For a developing country like India, with a huge population, the high rate of employment in the IT sector is a big advantage. The IT industry is expected to generate employment of 2.2 million by the end of 2013, which is expected to increase significantly in coming years.
